Disclosure: Ourpoint publishes this guide, and Ourpoint is one of the apps listed. We've tried to make it useful even if you never use us. Prices come from each app's App Store India listing, checked on 24 and 26 October 2026, and we give the date next to each one. Where we couldn't check a price, we say so and link the company's own page. Where another app does something better than we do, we say that too.

There is no single best matrimony app in India. The right one depends on where you live, which language your family speaks at home, whether this is your first marriage, whether your parents are doing the searching, and how much browsing you want to do. So this guide starts with a table, then goes through each app, then sorts them by situation.

BharatMatrimony and its community sites

Who it suits: families who want to search within a community, language or region. Matrimony.com Ltd, which runs BharatMatrimony, is listed on the NSE and BSE and runs community and language sites such as KeralaMatrimony and TamilMatrimony, plus a separate DivorceeMatrimony app for second marriages. It reported 2.72 lakh paid subscriptions in April to June 2026.

How matching works: you fill in a detailed profile and partner preferences, then search, receive daily recommendations and send interests. Higher plans let you see contact details and message more people.

Verification: BharatMatrimony launched a six-point verification in 2019 (mobile, government ID, education and salary documents, selfie, location and social profile), shown as trust badges. In September 2026 Tamil Nadu allowed Matrimony.com to offer optional Aadhaar authentication.

Cost (App Store India, 24 Oct 2026): Gold ₹5,900 for 3 months or ₹11,900 for 6 months. Prime Gold ₹7,900 or ₹14,900. Platinum ₹9,900 or ₹14,900. A Profile Highlighter is ₹450 for 15 days.

Fair downside: the free tier mostly lets you look. To talk to most people you need a time-limited membership, and verification badges are per profile, so not everyone you see has the same checks.

Shaadi.com

Who it suits: people who want a large national pool, including many NRIs. Shaadi.com is run by People Interactive and was founded in 1997.

How matching works: search, daily matches and interests, much like BharatMatrimony. Paid members can see contact details and message freely.

Verification: an optional blue tick, which according to Shaadi.com's help pages means a selfie was matched to the profile photo.

Cost (App Store India, 24 Oct 2026): Gold for 3 months ₹5,200 to ₹5,900, Gold+ for 3 months ₹5,900 to ₹6,900, Diamond for 6 months ₹6,900. The website's plans page doesn't show prices without signing in.

Fair downside: the blue tick checks a face against a photo, not an ID, and it's optional. Prices also vary from person to person, which makes it hard to compare in advance.

Jeevansathi

Who it suits: people who want a big portal at a lower entry price, especially in North India, or who want a relationship manager to search for them. Jeevansathi belongs to Info Edge, which also owns Naukri, and launched in 1998.

How matching works: search, daily matches and interests, with relationship managers on higher plans. Its 2026 research on its users found strict caste preferences falling, from 91% of users in 2016 to 54% in 2025.

Verification: phone verification, selfie verification, and ID badges for members who verify.

Cost (App Store India, 24 Oct 2026): Pro Lite ₹1,699 or ₹4,249, Pro ₹5,199, Pro Max+ ₹5,999. The listing doesn't show how long each plan lasts. Contact views are ₹1,799 and Spotlight ₹499. The website shows “₹ ****” until you log in.

Fair downside: without durations it's hard to know what the cheapest plan actually buys, so ask in the app before you pay.

Betterhalf

Who it suits: working professionals who want something that feels like a modern app rather than a portal. Betterhalf positions itself as a matrimony app for working professionals.

How matching works: daily matches rather than open search.

Verification: selfie and government ID, according to its App Store listing.

Cost (App Store India, 24 Oct 2026): Premium ₹799 to ₹4,399, a 30-day plan at ₹499, and “Sparkle” packs ₹699 to ₹1,199.

Fair downside: a smaller pool than the big three, so outside the largest cities you may see fewer matches.

Jodii

Who it suits: people who are more comfortable in an Indian language than in English, and who may not have a college degree. Matrimony.com launched Jodii in December 2021 as a Tamil matrimony app for people such as factory workers, technicians, salespeople and delivery executives, with education up to a diploma, 12th standard or below. Later coverage describes it in more Indian languages, and in 2022 it added a service offered through employers.

How matching works: a simpler profile and matches in your language, on a mobile app.

Verification: the launch reports describe mobile-verified profiles. We couldn't find a current, official description of further checks.

Cost: varies. Registration is free, according to launch coverage, and we couldn't find a current public price list, so check inside the app.

Fair downside: most of what's public about Jodii dates from 2021 and 2022, so check what the app offers today before relying on any of the above.

KeralaMatrimony

Who it suits: Malayalee families in Kerala, the Gulf and elsewhere. It's part of the Matrimony.com group, says it has run since 2000, and the app is also available in Malayalam.

How matching works: profiles, partner preferences and filters by city, education, occupation and more, plus recommendations from Matrimony.com's matching system.

Verification: the same trust badges as BharatMatrimony, from the same company.

Cost (App Store India, 26 Oct 2026): Gold ₹5,900 for 3 months or ₹11,900 for 6 months, Diamond ₹7,900 for 3 months, Platinum ₹9,900 for 3 months, Prime Gold ₹7,900 or ₹14,900. Profile Highlighter ₹450 to ₹2,700.

Fair downside: it costs about the same as BharatMatrimony for a narrower pool, which is the point if you want a Malayalee match and a drawback if you don't.

M4Marry

Who it suits: Kerala and South Indian communities. M4Marry is run by Malayala Manorama, launched in 2008, and expanded to Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in 2019.

How matching works: search and matches by community and preference, in the familiar portal style.

Verification: its App Store listing promises verified mobile numbers. We couldn't find a description of ID checks.

Cost (App Store India, 26 Oct 2026): Premium ₹5,900 for 90 days or ₹9,900 for 180 days. Kerala plans ₹13,499 for 180 days and ₹18,900 for 365 days. Premium Plus ₹11,800 for 90 days. A 14-day Prime Package is ₹3,399.

Fair downside: a phone number check is a light form of verification, so do your own checks before trusting a profile.

Aisle

Who it suits: people who want to date with marriage in mind, without a biodata. Aisle is owned by Info Edge, like Jeevansathi.

How matching works: a feed of profiles you like or pass, closer to a dating app.

Verification: its listing describes “2-step verification”.

Cost (App Store India, 24 Oct 2026): Plus ₹249, Premium ₹249 to ₹1,899, Concierge ₹749 to ₹1,499.

Fair downside: not everyone on a dating-style app is looking for marriage soon, so say what you want early.

Hinge and Bumble: dating apps people use for marriage

Who they suit: professionals in big cities who are comfortable meeting someone as a date first, without families involved at the start. Hinge describes itself as “designed to be deleted”, and its profiles can show religion and dating intentions.

How matching works: a feed of profiles. On Hinge, every match starts with someone liking or commenting on part of a profile, such as a photo or a written prompt.

Verification: Hinge offers selfie verification and Bumble offers ID verification, according to their App Store listings. Both are optional.

Cost (App Store India, 26 Oct 2026): both are free to match and chat. Hinge+ was listed at ₹499 to ₹1,699 and HingeX at ₹749 to ₹2,499, without durations. Bumble Premium was ₹279 or ₹399 for 7 days and ₹799 for a month, with other Premium options up to ₹899.

Fair downside: they're built for dating, not marriage. There's no community or family side, and many people on them aren't ready to marry.

Ourpoint

Who it suits: people who'd rather meet a few verified people properly than browse thousands of profiles. Ourpoint is new and small, and it opens city by city through Live evenings: Kochi first, with Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Thiruvananthapuram to follow.

How matching works: instead of a biodata form, you answer a short written interview. Then you book a seat at an Ourpoint Live evening in your city: six five-minute text chats with verified people, one at a time, each opening with a question for the two of you. You see a first name, age, a line about how they live and three of their interview answers, and no photos until it's mutual. After each chat you privately say yes or no, and only a mutual yes is revealed, at the end of the evening. There's no feed and no swiping. There are no caste, height, income or complexion filters. You can set up to three non-negotiables, such as religion, vegetarian, doesn't smoke, doesn't drink or hasn't been married before, and they apply both ways.

Verification: a person checks every member's ID against a live selfie.

When: the first evening is in Kochi on Sunday 15 November 2026 at 9pm, for ages 25 to 35, with seats split evenly between women and men.

Cost: joining, verification, booking a seat and the evening itself are free. You pay only to open a conversation after a mutual yes: ₹199 for one, ₹499 for 3, ₹1,299 for 10 or ₹2,499 for 25. If the other person declines or doesn't answer within three days, it's refunded to your balance. There's no subscription.

Fair downside: it's in one city today and has far fewer people than any portal. There's no search, and six short chats in an evening is deliberately few. If you want to browse a big pool by community, a portal will suit you better.

Six five-minute chats with verified people, free to book. You pay only to talk to someone who said yes to you too.

Book a seat

How to choose, by situation

First marriage

Start with the size of the pool you need. If community and language matter to your family, BharatMatrimony or its community site (such as KeralaMatrimony), Shaadi.com or Jeevansathi give you the widest choice. If you'd rather have fewer, better introductions, try Betterhalf or Ourpoint. Whatever you pick, buy the shortest plan first.

Second marriage

Look for an app where being divorced or widowed is normal, not a filter that hides you. Matrimony.com runs DivorceeMatrimony for this. On Ourpoint, “hasn't been married before” is one of the optional non-negotiables, which works both ways: people who set it won't be matched with you, so the people you do see are open to it. Be upfront in your profile; it saves time for everyone.

NRI

Shaadi.com and BharatMatrimony have the largest international pools, and KeralaMatrimony and M4Marry are popular with Malayalee families in the Gulf and beyond. Video calls matter more when you're far away, so make one early part of your routine. Ourpoint isn't a good fit for most NRIs yet, because its Live evenings pair people within one city.

Working professional in a metro

If you're short on time, avoid apps that reward hours of browsing. Betterhalf and Aisle are built around this group, Hinge and Bumble work if you're open to dating first, and Ourpoint, once Live evenings reach your city, gives you six five-minute chats in a single evening. If you want the widest choice and don't mind searching, a portal still has the most profiles.

Parents searching

The big portals are built for families: parents can create and manage a profile, search by community, and on higher plans use a relationship manager. Talk to your son or daughter about which app and which filters before you pay. If they'd rather lead the search themselves, apps such as Ourpoint let them choose and talk for themselves, and bring family in when it's time to meet.

Staying safe on any app

  • Read what the badge means. “Verified” can mean a phone number, a selfie matched to a photo, or an ID checked by a person. Check the app's help page.
  • Reverse-search their photos with Google Lens before you invest feelings.
  • Video call early. Repeated excuses are the clearest warning sign.
  • Never send money, for any reason. Report it at cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930.
  • Stay on the app at first, and meet in a public place, telling someone where you'll be.

Our 8-step checklist for verifying a matrimony profile goes into each of these. If cost is your main question, see what each app charges to talk to someone, and for the big three side by side, BharatMatrimony vs Shaadi.com vs Jeevansathi.

Questions people ask

Which is the best matrimony app in India in 2026?
It depends on your situation. BharatMatrimony and its community sites are strongest for community and regional search, Shaadi.com has a large national and NRI pool, and Jeevansathi has the cheapest entry plan of the three. Betterhalf suits working professionals, and Ourpoint suits people in Kochi who'd like to meet a few verified people over an evening of short live chats, without a subscription.
Which matrimony app is best for working professionals?
Betterhalf positions itself for working professionals, and Aisle, Hinge and Bumble are popular with people in metros who are open to dating first. If you're short on time, Ourpoint's Live evenings give you six five-minute chats with verified people instead of an endless feed.
What is the cheapest matrimony app in India?
On App Store India in October 2026, Jeevansathi's plans started at ₹1,699, Betterhalf's at ₹499 for 30 days and Aisle's at ₹249. Hinge and Bumble are free to match and chat. Ourpoint is free until a mutual yes, then ₹199 to open one conversation.
Is there a matrimony app without a subscription?
Yes. Ourpoint charges per conversation instead: joining and booking a Live evening are free, and you pay only to open a conversation after a mutual yes, refunded to your balance if the other person declines or doesn't answer in three days.
Which matrimony app is best for a second marriage?
Matrimony.com runs DivorceeMatrimony for people marrying again, and the big portals let you state your marital status. On Ourpoint, members who don't want to match with someone previously married can set that as a non-negotiable, so the people you're paired with are open to it.
Can Hinge or Bumble be used to find a spouse in India?
Many people do, especially in big cities. They're dating apps, so there's no family side or community search, and not everyone is ready to marry. Say what you're looking for on your profile.
Which matrimony app has the strongest verification?
It varies by app and by profile. BharatMatrimony offers trust badges including ID, Shaadi.com's blue tick matches a selfie to a photo, and Betterhalf says it checks selfie and ID. On Ourpoint, a person checks every member's ID against a live selfie. Whatever the badge, still video call before you trust anyone.
