Disclosure: we make Ourpoint, one of the alternatives below. We've kept the comparison to things you can check yourself: prices from App Store India on 24 October 2026, and verification as each company describes it.

Shaadi.com, founded in 1997, is one of India's best-known matrimony sites. People look for alternatives for a few common reasons: the cost of memberships, wanting fewer and better introductions instead of endless browsing, or wanting stronger checks on who's real.

BharatMatrimony: the biggest alternative

Matrimony.com Ltd, which runs BharatMatrimony and community sites like KeralaMatrimony and TamilMatrimony, is listed on the stock exchanges and reported 2.72 lakh paid subscriptions in April to June 2026. It's the closest like-for-like alternative: a large pool, strong regional and community coverage, and a similar membership model at similar prices.

Jeevansathi: similar model, cheaper entry plans

Jeevansathi is owned by Info Edge, which also owns Naukri. Its cheapest App Store plans start lower than Shaadi.com's, though the listing doesn't show how long each lasts. It offers relationship managers on higher plans. Its 2026 research on users found strict caste preferences falling, from 91% of users in 2016 to 54% in 2025.

Betterhalf and Aisle: app-first and younger

Betterhalf positions itself as a matrimony app for working professionals and says its profiles are selfie and ID verified. Aisle, also owned by Info Edge, sits between dating and marriage and is the cheapest to start. Both feel more like modern apps than portals.

Ourpoint: fewer people, more about each

Ourpoint takes a different approach. Instead of a search box, you book a seat at an Ourpoint Live evening in your city: six five-minute text chats with verified people, one at a time, each opening with a question for the two of you. No photos until it's mutual. After each chat you privately say yes or no, and only a mutual yes is revealed, at the end of the evening.

The first evening is in Kochi on Sunday 15 November 2026 at 9pm, for ages 25 to 35, and booking a seat is free.

No subscription, no caste filter, and a person checks every member's ID against a live selfie. You pay only to open a conversation after a mutual yes, and get it back if they decline.

Book a seat

The honest trade-offs: Ourpoint is new, opens city by city (Kochi first, with Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai and Hyderabad next), is English-first, and doesn't offer search. If you want to browse thousands of profiles, it isn't for you.

Which should you choose?

  • You want the biggest pool and community search: BharatMatrimony or Shaadi.com.
  • You want a lower starting price and relationship managers: Jeevansathi.
  • You want an app that feels closer to dating, but serious: Aisle or Betterhalf.
  • You want to meet a few verified people over an evening of short live chats, and pay only when it's mutual: Ourpoint.

Whichever you pick, read our 8-step checklist for verifying a matrimony profile before you trust anyone you meet online.
