Who runs them

  • BharatMatrimony is run by Matrimony.com Ltd, founded in 1997 and listed on the NSE and BSE. It also runs community and language sites such as KeralaMatrimony and TamilMatrimony.
  • Shaadi.com is run by People Interactive, founded in 1997 by Anupam Mittal.
  • Jeevansathi belongs to Info Edge, the company behind Naukri, and launched in 1998.

Verification compared

  • BharatMatrimony launched a six-point verification in 2019 (mobile, government ID, education and salary documents, selfie, location and social profile), shown as trust badges.
  • Shaadi.com's blue tick, according to its help pages, means a selfie was matched to the profile photo.
  • Jeevansathi verifies phone numbers, offers selfie verification and shows ID badges for members who verify.

On all three, verification is shown as a badge, so check whether a profile has one and what it covers. In September 2026, Tamil Nadu allowed Matrimony.com to offer optional Aadhaar authentication, a sign that stronger checks are coming.

Who each suits

  • BharatMatrimony: you want regional and community depth, especially in South India.
  • Shaadi.com: you want a large national and NRI pool.
  • Jeevansathi: you want a lower entry price, or relationship managers, especially in North India.

A different option

If browsing thousands of profiles isn't for you, Ourpoint Live gives you an evening of six five-minute text chats with verified people from your city, each opening with a question for the two of you, and a private yes or no after each. Every member's ID is checked against a live selfie by a person, and you pay only to open a conversation after a mutual yes.

Free to book a seat. ₹499 for three conversations after a mutual yes, refunded if they decline.
